The Bloom

by Gizelle Rodrigues

Still waters run deep they say

And who would know it better

My roots dig deep, but my soul longs to be free

Blossom I must

The water is murky

I feel the slime tug at my roots

I must take this chance

Lest the fear of it all hold me back

The sunshine beckons

As I lift my face to feel its warmth

Mother Nature sets time in motion

And my heart unfolds with compassion

I draw from the strength within me just one last time

As I burst into bloom for the world to see

a brief glimpse of what courage means to me
